The number of Master Beekeeper certification programs has grown over the past decade. Some state beekeeping organizations now offer courses to their own members; others are open to applicants from across the US and beyond. Following are some of those:
Eastern Apicultural Society
The EAS Master Beekeeper certification program has existed for many years as a level of beekeeping expertise certified through the rigorous testing established and maintained through the organization. READ MORE
Cornell University
Cornell offers an advanced training program for beekeepers who have at least 3 years of beekeeping experience. The program is 15 months in duration and consists of four online classes and three in-person final exams at Cornell’s Dyce Lab for Honey Bee Studies. University of Florida
Apprentice Beekeeper training is the first of four certifications beekeepers can achieve through the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Master Beekeeper Program. It will help beekeepers adopt beekeeping best practices and educate the public about bees. READ MORE
University of Montana
UM’s Online Beekeeping Certificate program consists of three university level courses at the apprentice, journeyman and master levels, culminating in a certificate designating the participant as a “Master Beekeeper.” Although each of the courses is only a few weeks in length, the full program takes three years to complete. It is structured to give participants a full year of experience between courses. READ MORE
