Maine State Beekeepers Association

Annual Meeting and Conference

A recording of the 2021 MSBA Annual Meeting
can be viewed by members here.

Due to public health precautions, the 2021 event was held online on Saturday, October 16th. Attendees watched speakers and participated in Q&As. During breaks a variety of great bee-related items were raffled off.

Presentations focused on honey bee queens and queen issues that affect hive management. The speakers were North Carolina extension specialist in honey bee biology Dr. David Tarpy, and Massachusetts State Apiary Inspector Paul Tessier. State Apiarist Jennifer Lund provided an overview of what she’s observed during hive inspections throughout the state over the past season, as well as a summary of the annual Maine Beekeepers Survey.  You can read more about the speakers here.

This conference is MSBA’s only fundraising effort, from which proceeds are used to support beekeepers in several ways: printing and mailing of the Bee Line newsletter; our Zoom account with which we’ve hosted over a dozen webinars since the pandemic shutdown; MSBA and chapters website maintenance/hosting; and contributions to the EAS Foundation for Honey Bee Research.
